Media Geeks: The Trilogy, Un-Altered, Un-Edited
The Trilogy, Un-Altered, Un-Edited
The Star Wars Geek     05/04/2006
As a good friend put it, this is a geek dream come true. According to LucasFilm Senior Vice President Jim Ward, "a truly countless number of fans have told us that they would love to see and own the original version that they remember experiencing in theaters".

Now, whether or not this was just an elaborate scheme to get fans to pay twice for what is essentially the same movie, beginning September 12 and running ONLY until December 31st, 2006, you can buy a re-release of each original Trilogy movie (episodes 4, 5 and 6) in a two disc set whose bonus features include the original, unedited (some would consider, unspoiled) theatrical releases. Each original version will feature Dolby 2.0 Surround sound, close-captioning, and subtitles in English, French and Spanish for their U.S. release. International releases will follow shortly.

Yes folks, Han WILL shoot first again, Jabba will be thankfully missing from A New Hope as will the music video in his palace from Return of the Jedi. All the glitches and flubs should be there too, but that's what most of us remember, and that's what we love.

Full review in September. (I know I've got chills...)
