Media Geeks: Tetris DS
Tetris DS
Queen Geek     06/19/2006
Nintendo DS is definetly coming into it's own and giving the PSP a run for best handheld when it releases games like Tetris. The latest version of this classic puzzle game is still as addictive as ever.

There are still the normal game modes that everyone is use to, but now there are other modes that can challenge you even more. New modes include "Push" where you play against someone and be the first to "push" your opponent to the other side of the screen. It is kind of like a tetris tug-o-war. Another mode allows you to use the stylus to "touch" the pieces rather then the hand controls. Then there are "Puzzle" and "Mission" modes. Each of these modes requires you to complete an action in a given time or number of pieces. These two modes are a nice change and challenge when added to the standard modes. The final mode is a "catch" mode where you have to catch the pieces as they fall to form a 4x4 block.

The best part though, is the new options that go with the Nintendo DS. These options include a download mode that allows you to play with 2 or 4 other players without extra game cartridges if you are in the same vicinity. You can also have more options of game play if all players have the game cartridge. The other option is a wi-fi connection that allows you to connect to other players around the world to play 2 or 4 players at one time. This is definetly the best part of the game and allows for a great party atmosphere, and one that can get rather competitive.

This game is definetly a must buy when it comes to the Nintendo DS.
