Harken back with me to a simpler time of 8 bit midi music, 128 colors and super soldiers equipped with telescoping robotic arms. We reported a while back that Capcom is in the middle of producing a next-gen Bionic Commando that looks, in a word, sweet. For those that care to wet their whistle a little earlier however, the old 80's platformer is getting a hi-def boost with Bionic Commando Rearmed.

Available this spring as a download for the Xbox Live Arcade service, Playstation Network or PC, Rearmed gives a good facelift to the old standard. Looks like an otherwise fun distraction. Classic gamers might get a kick out of re-living the title without digging up their old NES, blowing the dust out of their cartridges and praying their game pads still function. Equally, new gamers should be introduced to the classic. Throw in co-op play that was never available before and I think we've got a winner!
