One of our favorite, frantic 2D arcade shooters is headed to the DS...finally. Metal Slug from SNK Playmore announced today that the 12 year old franchise will receive it's 6th official sequel and promises more of the button mashing classic fun it's predecessors have been known for.

7 new missions, a slew of new characters, new weapons and the over-the-top boss battles expected from the stylized scroller are assured. The DS's portability perfectly matches the casual type of game play this shooter exudes.

SNK has partnered with relative newcomers, Ignition Entertainment (Teenage Zombies) to bring Metal Slug 7 to our grubby little gamer hands, due out sometime in November.
