For those that remember, this one of the few summer movies that didn't disapoint. Based on short stories of Isaac Asimov, the movie is basically about a detective with a grudge against robots, called into to investigate the death of a friend & found of THE robot company.

Right of the bat, the DTS sound is superb. Reproducing the same great dynamic sound from the film, the audio to this was as if we were back in the theatre (if not better). As one would expect from a movie with so much digital effects, the video quality was perfect.

Luckily 20th Century Fox didn't half-ass the menus. They were creative & not just a standard still image with buttons. Extras include commentary by the director & screenwriter, a "making of" featurette, a photo gallery, and coming soon trailers (both DVD & theatrical). While I haven't yet watched it with commentary yet, the "Making of" featurette was pretty cool.

In addition to the above average authoring, the packaging also is creative. With the transparent sleeve over it, the cover art appears as the movie poster. Slip off the sleeve & you see the background artwork (and what I'm guessing is an alternate version of the poster). What impresses me is that, with the transparent windows to the amaray case, it gives the cover artwork depth.

Overall, I would say this DVD was worth the money & gives plenty of supplemental material to extend the use of the DVD.
