Media Geeks: The Sims 2 Nightlife Expansion Pack
The Sims 2 Nightlife Expansion Pack
Queen Geek     12/31/2005
The Sims 2 Nightlife Expansion pack is a great addition to the already popular PC game. The Sims 2 has experienced amazing success and continues to grow in ways that the original Sims was unable to. In the fall of 2004 The Sims 2 was released and fans went wild. The new 3-D world of the Sims was just what gamers were looking for. Sims were able to grow up and experience life, just like we would. Two expansion packs later and a third one on the way...the series still continues to be one of the most popular PC games of all time.

The Nightlife expansion pack includes a downtown area that your Sims can visit. They can go shopping, partying, to a park or just out to eat. Now your Sims can even go on dates with other Sims to experience the true pleasure in life. There is also a new pleasure aspiration for you to choose when your Sims become teens. This aspiration allows them to indulge in the many pleasures of life. They live to party and always want to do things like bowling, playing poker, and hustling others in a rowdy game of pool.

With the new pleasure aspiration and the ability to date when your Sim meets another one you can tell if they are attracted to each other of not. If they are not and you still want them to get it on then you can buy love potion 8.5 from the local gypsy. When they drink it the first person they see instantly becomes attracted to them.

If you don't like the life that your Sim has there is a new item that you can buy with your aspiration points in the Aspiration Reward panel, a ReNuYu Senso Orb. This orb can turn your Sim's life inside out or upside down by changing their life aspiration.

There is also a new type of character in the game which is a vampire. They only come out at night in the Downtown area. If you become friends with them you have the possibility of being bitten and turned into a vampire. Then you can take this back to the rest of the town and possibly turn your town into one that if full of vampires. I have not worked with this part yet. I got to be friends with a vampire, but I was unable to get them to bite me.

The best part of this expansion back is not the new pleasure aspiration, the ability to play the dating game, vampires or the 125 new items, but rather the fact that your Sims can now own and drive their own cars. They can buy any variety of cars, which range in price, and then they can drive to work on their own schedule and even take it for a spin downtown. This adds more freedom within the game for those of you who hate waiting for the taxi or the carpool.

This game grows in addiction levels with each new expansion pack. Right now your Sims can grow up, go to college, buy a car, visit downtown and play the dating game. This spring your Sims will have the ability to own and operate their own business in the Open for Business expansion pack. Then you will have total control over your Sims because you can control their work lives.

I highly recommend this game to anyone that has hours at a time that they can kill. It is also good for control freaks because it gives you someone else to control. Maybe that is why I like it so much.
